After reading this, I agree with the explanation of the contemporary monsters and what is considered a monster today. I agree that the two major monsters are terrorists and sexual predators. Living in a society where rape percentages are very high especially among young women. This raises fear among everyone, these rapists terrorize families and young girls in fear of being raped and for those that have already been raped, their feeling of safety is taken away. I know what it feels like to constantly be afraid, and unable to trust those around you, living in the same neighborhood where rape and murder occur when its least expected, as well as robbery. The same neighborhood that Levi Aron, murdered Leiby Kletzky.

Theresa, thank you for writing about your observations. Did this behavior precede an earthquake?

just looked up articles on unusual behavior in animals before earthquakes, and found this add to be very interesting. the reason is we have about 30 cows and calfs combined, we live in greenbrier, tn. about 10.30 am 01/01/2010 all the cows ran to the fencerow facing the house, in single file, staring at us for about a minute or two, then they turned around and took off behind them in the opoposite direction still in the same cluster, like they were being chased, at this time we were with the cattle, nothing out there, they stopped stood there for a minute or two, and then bolted back to the fencerow, still in the same cluster. they did this for about three times, then they dissapeared to the back of the feild out of sight. they are acting normal now, so we are thinking this was quuit unsual behavior for cattle. we have a dog as well, who jumped through our screen door and ripped it out last night, to get on the back porch, there were fireworks though, and she goes crazy and runs with those actions going on along with bad weather, so just thought i would throw this out there. dont no if there has been any other activity going on wiht any other animals. theresa roberts

A good while later, I'm doing the same thing and using this page for my research paper on the modern monster. I would love to give the proper credit were due. Was this post the work of a single author or are there many contributors?

I'm looking forward to finding out!

I am in Nanchang, Jianxgi province, China. i live in a 21 story apartment building of recent construction (2 years). I just experienced a pulse or tremor of some-kind that went up through the floor, thru my feet, and gut at about 19:36 Beijing time on Aug 8 2010 (and as i write this--checking the date i just got an eerie feeling as i believe the big Sichuan quake was on this date). It happened two or three days ago as well, only slightly smaller. I see Nanchang had a serious earthquake in 1927 with over 200,000 deaths. And I did some research and found that research shows magnetic pulses are traceable about two weeks before an earthquake. i wonder if that's what I felt. Should I be worried. The area I live in also has much clay. i wonder if the building is settling into the watery clay--it is a boggish area. I also read a research paper discussing the liquidification of clay during earthquake activity. i am concerned there will be an earthquake in or around nanchang soon.
